We welcome your comments and hope that our conversations here will be polite and focused on assuring safety and security of our troops both overseas and stateside. You are responsible for the content of your comments and photos. We kindly ask that you respect your recruit or Marine's privacy.

We do not discriminate against any views, but we will delete any of the following comments or photos:

  • advertisements or solicitations of any kind
  • comments or photos that threaten or harm the reputation of any person or organization
  • violent, obscene, profane, hateful, or racist comments or photos
  • comments or images that suggest or encourage illegal activity
  • multiple off-topic posts or repetitive posts that are copied and pasted
  • personal information including, but not limited to, birth dates, email addresses, telephone numbers, mailing addresses, or identification numbers
  • troop movement, actions and/or missions whether stateside or abroad including specific information about recruits in boot camp, or any other communications and/or information, intentional or not, which may be seen as having potential to harm operational security for our military and military personnel

In short: be nice, keep our troops safe, and add to the discussion. If you continually violate this policy, we may limit your ability to comment in the future. If you have any questions or comments about this policy, let us know.

Our Photo Policy

We welcome your sharing of photos within the following parameters and hope that you will consider the safety and privacy all recruits and Marines before sharing in a public venue. Photos violating this policy will be removed. We prohibit posting photos which include a military name tape.

The following photos ARE ALLOWED:

  • photos which have been approved for distribution by the United States Marine Corps regardless of location or content
  • photos of family members and Marines taken during family day and graduation
  • photos of recruits in drill and formation taken in publicly accessible areas of MCRD Parris Island or San Diego
  • photos of buildings at both MCRD and Parris Island that are publicly accessible during family day and graduations
  • your personal photos of you and your family with your Marine, poolee, recruit or veteran

The following photos ARE NOT ALLOWED:

  • photos of Marines on deployment or aboard ships unless approved by the USMC
  • photos of recruits in training in non-public locations at MCRD Parris Island or San Diego
  • photos of any Marine on duty or in training exercises
  • any photo deemed to be a security or privacy risk for the US Marine Corps or an individual
  • photos which violate the comment policy stated above
